Keysight is to pay about £388million in cash to Anite, the UK based supplier of test and measurement solutions that span the design and validation of chipsets, mobile devices and network equipment. The 500 employee company, established in 1973 as Cray Electronics, turned over £49m in the last six months of 2014.

"As a leading supplier of software solutions for wireless research and development, Anite is aligned with Keysight's strategy to grow in wireless and increase our software offerings," said Ron Nersesian, Keysight president and CEO.
Clay Brendish, Anite's chairman, added: "The combination of Anite and Keysight has strong strategic logic, with Anite's software expertise strongly complementing Keysight's hardware expertise. Our market has been characterised by ongoing customer consolidation, increasing the importance of scale and strength to support customers around the globe and invest in major research and development programmes across the technology cycle. Keysight brings the scale and financial resources to continue to develop Anite's business."
Keysight's strategic priorities include growing revenues from software sales and expanding its offerings in support of wireless technologies. Acquiring Anite will help it to achieve these goals.
Keysight says it will maintain the Anite brand after the acquisition and will set up Anite's current headquarters in Fleet as the head office for Keysight's worldwide Wireless device and infrastructure test business.
