Worldwide launch for community-driven PCB design tool

An open beta program has been announced by Altium for its community-driven PCB design tool. CircuitMaker, which is a free software offering, will be available worldwide to all interested electronics designers, and aims to address the needs of the electronics maker and hobbyist community.

"We're incredibly excited to see how the CircuitMaker community will grow and evolve during this open beta program," said Ben Jordan, product manager at Altium. "The electronics maker community has always been characterised by a very organic and collaborative growth process, and now electronics designers of all shapes and sizes have CircuitMaker with which to voice their creativity."

The typical features needed for modern PCB design are built into CircuitMaker, including schematic-PCB integration, interactive routing, and output generation tools. Designers have unlimited access to design and component data through a cloud-based platform. CircuitMaker provides a streamlined interface, removing learning curves traditionally required for new PCB design tools, allowing new and casual designers to create designs quickly.

The open beta testing process will also provide feedback and input to refine the software. Anyone interested in participating can register now at the CircuitMaker website.
