60GHz technology features in Chinese smartphone

SiBeam's UltraGig SiI6400 transmitter is enabling 60GHz millimetre wave wireless video technology in Letv's Le Max smartphone. Letv – China's leading internet service provider – launched its first smartphone earlier this year.

According to SiBeam, its wireless technology will expand the consumer content experience for Letv's film, television and gaming services.

"We are thrilled to see our technology included in the world's first 60GHz smartphone," said David Kuo, senior director of marketing. "The Le Max design win is not only a key milestone for the wireless industry, but also showcases SiBeam's leadership in millimetre wave advancement."

The UltraGig SiI6400 transmitter is a single chip device that integrates a network processor, RF transceiver and antennas. It is said to offer full HD quality video with near zero latency.
