08:57Signal converters for hazardous areas
With the introduction of its ACT20X modules Weidmüller is offering a family of signal converters for hazardous area applications. With 11 mm per channel these compactly designed modules require very little space in the electrical cabinet. All ACT20X converters can be configured via a PC utilizing the software ‘WI-Manager’. This software is based on vendor-neutral FDT/DTM technology. The modules are designed to be installed in safe or hazardous areas of Zone 2. The ACT20X family includes digital and analogue intrinsically safe converters that both isolate and convert signals from as well as into hazardous areas. The signal converters process 2-wire HART, NAMUR, RTD, thermocouple or DC signals as well as digital signals with electrical connection to hazardous area Zone 0. All modules have 3-way separation and are optionally available with dual channel functionality. A relay-based error monitoring facility simplifies servicing. ACT20X modules can be utilized in temperatures from -20 °C to +60 °C without restrictions. They have all relevant international approvals such as ATEX, ICEEX, GOST, FM.

08:55Matrox Design Assistant 2.0 for smart-cameras

The Matrox Design Assistant 2.0, is a new version of the intuitive, flowchart-based software package for the Matrox Iris E smart camera. With more image processing and analysis tools, the Matrox Iris E smart cameras can be deployed in an even greater number of applications, in almost any industry. With Matrox Design Assistant 2.0, users can now create flowcharts of their applications with steps for image processing (arithmetic, filtering, geometric transformations, logic, LUT mapping, morphology, thresholding, etc.), blob analysis, pattern recognition based on normalized grayscale correlation, and reading character strings.

In conjunction with the steps available in 1.0 (CodeReader, Edge Locator, IntesityChecker, Metrology and ModelFinder), Matrox Design Assistant 2.0 offers all required vision tools for most applications. Matrox Design Assistant 2.0 now also supports both Ethernet/IP and Modbus over TCP/IP to interact with PLCs and other process automation equipment. Finally, Matrox Design Assistant 2.0 also includes an SDK that allows users to add specific custom functionality. In the Matrox Design Assistant environment, users create a flowchart of the application that instructs the Matrox Iris E-Series camera to capture, process, analyze, and display image data.

The intuitive nature of the Matrox Iris E-Series with Design Assistant eliminates the need for programming and scripting. Users benefit from simplified application development that offers the same reliability and robustness as the field-proven Matrox Imaging Library. The development environment is fully self-contained for both application development and deployment, and the integrated HTML editor and layout tool gives users the flexibility to create a custom web-based operator view for monitoring the application.
