Keysight has introduced a dual-channel analog signal generator that packs two independent 20 GHz sources into a single 2U chassis. The PSG XG7-class instrument enables engineers to run multiple test conditions without adding another instrument or expanding rack space.

Keysight dual-channel 20 GHz analog signal generator in 2U form factor
Key Characteristics
- Architecture: Dual independent channels in one instrument
- Frequency range: Up to 20 GHz per channel
- Form factor: Compact 2U chassis
- Phase noise: −135 dBc/Hz at 10 GHz (10 kHz offset)
- Amplitude modulation noise: −150 dBc/Hz at 10 GHz (10 kHz offset)
- Broadband noise floor: −166 dBc/Hz at 10 GHz
- Calibrated output power: up to +22 dBm
- Architecture: Hybrid design with software-based mode switching
- Supports Standard Commands for Programmable Instruments (SCPI)
- Rear-panel connections and settings compatible with previous-generation instruments
By combining two high-performance sources in one chassis, the generator effectively doubles signal-testing capacity while preserving signal purity and existing rack configurations.
Target Applications
- Aerospace and defence testing
- Advanced wireless systems
- High-speed digital test environments
- Complex multi-signal test setups requiring high signal integrity
The instrument allows engineers to create independent test conditions from a single unit, reducing equipment count and rack space while maintaining low noise performance essential for accurate high-frequency measurements.
